Resolve Outlook Spam Filter Not Working

One of the primary reasons is a misconfigured outlook spam filter. Therefore, you need to understand its options and change them to fix the issue.

1. By Default, Set to Low Filtering

First, check the filtering option. See if it is set to Low filtering. If so, you may still get the spam emails in your inbox.

In that case, set the filtering option to High to work more effectively.

  • Open your outlook account.
  • Then tap on the Home tab.
  • Now, select the Junk option.
  • A drop-down list will appear. Tap Junk Email options.
  • From here, select "High: most junk…."

2. Add Email Addresses to Safe Senders List

Another method to resolve the issue is adding email addresses to the Safe Senders list. It will ensure that emails from those senders appear only in your inbox.

To do so, follow these steps:

  • On your outlook windows, tap on the Home tab.
  • Now, select the Junk option.
  • From the drop-down list, choose Junk Email options.
  • After that, tap on Safe Senders List to add the email addresses.
  • Then, tap the Add option.
    • Add all the names, email addresses, and domains you wish to receive in your inbox.

3. Check the Blocked Email List

Lastly, go through the blocked email list. Check if your email address or the one you're expecting is there. If, by chance, the email address is on the blocklist, move it from there. Later, save it in the Safe Senders List, so it doesn't get lost again.

Note: Please remember that the emails in the spam or junk folders last only for 30 days. Later, they get deleted automatically. Hence, if you're missing any important mail, do check it now. Otherwise, there is no way to retrieve it once it's gone.
